Using Tagging to Create Newsletters, Searches, and Dashboards

Modified on: Tue, 22 Nov, 2022 at 5:48 PM

Tags can identify and label coverage that would otherwise not be returned together via common search keywords. As a result, Tags are the foundation of a Newsletter, as articles that appear in a Newsletter are selected by adding them to a specific tag. They can also be used in coverage searches (tag:"Xyz"), making it possible to run entire dashboards off your curated and Tagged coverage.  For example, you may want to keep track of articles your team has placed. You can tag your coverage "John," "Mary," and "Jane" and then run a report on the impact of stories by employees. Make sure you are using tagging for subjective curation only when you are not doing so for a Newsletter; otherwise, building a search will be more efficient.

Once coverage has been Tagged, you can create Newsletters,  Searches, Widgets, Dashboards, and Reports based on your collection of Tagged articles.

Creating Newsletters for Tagged Coverage:

You can create a Newsletter containing the most important articles of the day, week, or month. What qualifies coverage as important is subjective and may represent a variety of factors such as picked up on great messaging, placement in the desired outlet or medium, and size of readership. You can tag coverage based on your subjective criteria and include the mentions in a well-formatted Newsletter that can be emailed to your desired recipients.

Creating Monitoring Searches or Key Messages for Tagged Coverage:

You can create a Search or a Key Message by using the tag: operator; for example, you could manually tag articles that provide a backlink to your website and then identify those tags in a key message by using: the tag: "Articles with a backlink."

NOTE: If you include a tag in your search that doesn't exist or hasn't been shared by the colleague who created it, you will receive an error message.

To access the tag that isn't shared, follow these instructions to review it and reach out to the colleague who created the tag to share it with you.

To create a new tag to include in your search:

1. Delete the tag from your search.

2. Click on the Update Results button.

3. Hover over an article in the results.

4. Click on the tag icon and create a new tag.
