Smart Tag Management

Modified on: Fri, 27 Jan, 2023 at 3:28 AM

The Smart Tag section of Settings will enable you to change the criteria for a Mention, Brief, or Feature. This will help you categorize your news based on how many times a defined term is mentioned in an article.

A few notes on Smart Tags:

  • Smart Tags tracking is not always turned on by default in the Cision Communications Cloud. If you want to see Smart Tag information, contact your Account Executive.
  • Smart Tag settings are account wide.  This means that all of the terms below will need to be entered for any data group that you have setup in your system.

To make changes in your Smart Tag criteria, click the person icon in the right-hand corner of your screen and select settings from the drop down.

Select Smart Tags from the Settings Panel.

A form will appear that will enable you to establish custom criteria for a Mention, Brief, and Feature.

1. In the text box, type the search terms that you are looking for the system to begin tagging. If there is an error in your Boolean Syntax, an error message will pop up and notify you.

*Notice that Boolean can be used to incorporate multiple search terms. For a link to a document on how to write Boolean Syntax, click here*

2. Determine the number of mentions of the keyword(s) that should be made within a particular amount of words to meet your criteria for a Feature.

3. Determine the number of mentions of the keyword(s) that should be made within a particular amount of words to meet your criteria for a Brief.

4. Any clips that do not meet your criteria for Feature or Brief will automatically be categorized as Mentions.
