Modifying Tone for Media Clips

While the Cision Communications Cloud will Tone your News Items as they come into your system, you can change it. You can change the Overall Tone of an individual clip or several clips at a time (in bulk). This bulk feature can be especially helpful if you have items with similar content coming in and want to change the Tone for all of them simultaneously.  Finally, if you have Advanced Analytics, you can change the Tone of your Company’s specific mentions within the News Item.

Changing the Overall Tone of an Individual Clip:

To change the Overall Tone of an individual clip, you will need to use the Profile View to view your News Items.  By default, the Overall Tone that you see in the clip details panel on the right is the system applied Tone. 

To Change the Overall Tone of the Clip:

1. Click the Three-Ellipses button.
2. Select the Edit option..
3.  Click on the Upside Down Triangle in the Tone box
4. Select the desired Tone.
5.  Click Save.

Changing the Overall Tone of Multiple News Items (In Bulk):

Changing the Overall Tone of multiple News Items can be very helpful if you want to change the Tone of multiple clips with similar content.

To change the Tone of multiple News Items at one time,

1. You can use either the Profile or Grid View.
2. Check the New Items for which you want to change the Tone. You can check individual items or all items using the top checkbox.
3. Click the Edit button.
4. Select Modify Tone.
5. Click on the Upside Down Triangle in the Tone box.
6. Select the desired Tone.
7. Click Save.

Changing the Tone of Advanced Analytics Categories:

If you have Analytics Categories set up in your account, the Advanced Analytics section of the clip profile will show the Tone of each category mentioned in the clip. This Tone is completely separate from the overall tone of the clip (discussed above).

To adjust the Tone of an Analytics Category, click the pencil icon.

1. Click the upside-down triangle in the Tone box for the Advanced Analytics Category you want to change.
2. Select the Tone that you would like to apply.
4. Click Save.
