Google and Adobe Analytics with Email Distribution

Modified on: Thu, 1 Dec, 2022 at 8:19 PM

You can apply Google and Adobe Analytics information inside any email distribution sent through the Cision Communications Cloud system.  There are a few important things to note:

  • A Google or Adobe Analytics account does not need to be connected to the system to use this functionality
  • You must have hyperlinks to the site you are tracking inside of your release(email) for it to generate any data
  • Be sure that the URLs included in your hyperlinks match the URL’s being monitored in your Google or Adobe Analytics Account.
  • No data from this release will generate inside our system.  All the data can be found by logging into your Google or Adobe Analytics account.

After you have finished the design portion of your distribution, there will be an area on the bottom called Web Tracking. If you want to learn more about crafting an email distribution in our system, click here.

1. Select Google Analytics from the Web Tracking Dropdown

2. Source: Source will define where this referral traffic came from (EX: Cision)

3. Medium: Medium will define what Medium the referral traffic came from (EX: Email Distribution)

4. Campaign: The campaign will group several releases about the same topic so that you can report on the overall campaign performance.  (EX: Spring Promotion)
5. Term: Optional parameter suggested for paid search to identify keywords for your ad.
6. Content: Optional parameter for additional details for A/B testing and content-targeted ads.

The first 3 items on this list are most used by Cision Clients. Adding these fields to the bottom of your release allows you to track additional data inside your Google or Adobe Analytics Account.  Here is a sample of what some of this data can look like.
