Creating, Editing and Deleting Custom News Templates

Creating a Custom News Template:

You can create custom templates with a Manual News Alert, Saved News Search, or when creating a Clipbook. Following are some options for creating custom templates. 

Creating a User-Created Custom Template in the Cision Communications Cloud: This option works well if you want to make changes, such as adding a custom logo to the template and/or selecting whether to include or exclude data such as reach, tone, tags, analytics profile information, text preview, and social share links. 

Engaging Custom Services to Create a Template: Our Custom Services team can be engaged to create templates that have any of the following or potentially beyond:

• Engage our Custom Services Team to create beautifully-designed news templates with custom brand logos and banners. You can access the Custom Services Team by contacting your Account Executive.
• Group news by industry, competitors, or even news ranking, with the ability to highlight metrics like reach, tone, or publicity value to showcase relevant impact.
• Customise social share icons and embed custom images to enhance your news forwards visually, ensuring they stand out to your audience.

Creating a Custom Clipbook Template:

1. Select the coverage you want to include in the Clipbook report.
2. Click the Download Clips button on the Options Toolbar.
3. Select the Create Clipbook option on the drop-down menu.

Click the New Template option to begin.

Use the form to create a template:

1. Give the template a name by typing it in the box.
2. Select what information you want to include for each clip in the template: Text Preview, Share Links, Audience Reach/ Publicity Value, and Adding/Removing the Footer Information. Each of these has been included in the example below. NOTE:  If you do not have Publicity Value turned on in your Cision account, you will not see Publicity Value as a data choice. To have Publicity Value turned on, contact Cision Customer Support Team by clicking here.
3. Upload a Header Image to replace the Cision logo.
4. Customise the colors of the background, page, and text by clicking on the boxes and using the color picker that appears. Move the selection circle within the color picker to change the color. If you already know the hexadecimal code for the color, you can enter the code directly in the box and bypass the color picker.
5. Click Save.

Creating an Email Custom Template for an Email Forward:

1. Select the coverage you’d like to Share via Email Forward.
2. Click the Share button on the Options Toolbar.
3. Select Forward on the drop-down menu.

Click the New Template option to begin.

Use the form to create a template:

1. Give the template a name by typing it in the box.
2. Select what information you want to include for each clip in the template: Text Preview, Share Links, Audience Reach, Publicity Value, and Adding/Removing the Footer Information.
3. Upload a Header Image to replace the Cision logo.
4. Customise the background, page, and text colors by clicking on the boxes and using the color picker that appears. Move the selection circle within the color picker to change the color. If you already know the hexadecimal code for the color, you can enter the code directly in the box and bypass the color picker.
5. Click Save.

Once you have created your custom template, you can enter email details such as sender information, subject line, body text, and recipients using the second page of the form.  

Creating a News Alert Custom Template:

If you have saved your News search on the My Coverage page, you have the option to send coverage coming into that search via email regularly using a custom template.

To get started, select the Saved Search for which you want to share coverage via Email Alert and click the Pencil icon.

Check the option to Receive news from this search via email.

Click the New Template option on the form presented.

Use the form to create a template:

1. Give the template a name by typing it in the box.
2. Select what information you want to include for each clip in the template: Text Preview, Share Links, Audience Reach, Publicity Value, and Adding/Removing the Footer Information.
3. Upload a Header Image to replace the Cision logo.
4. Customise the background, page, and text colors by clicking on the boxes and using the color picker that appears. Move the selection circle within the color picker to change the color. If you already know the hexadecimal code for the color, you can enter the code directly in the box and bypass the color picker.
5. Click Save.

Once you have created your custom template, you can enter email details such as sender information, subject line, body text, and recipients using the second page of the form.  You can select the delivery schedule for your news alert on the final screen.

Editing and Duplicating a Custom Template:

For any custom template you have created, you can edit and duplicate the template. As you hover over the bottom of the template, you will see the options appear.

1. Click two pages icon to duplicate the template.
2. Click the pencil icon to make changes to the template, such as including or excluding different data for each news item.

Deleting a Custom News Forward Template:

A trash can icon will appear only on custom templates that you have created. 

As you hover over the trash can, the delete option will appear. Click the delete option to remove the custom template.
