Account Level Analytics Charts with Additional Capabilities

Some Analytics Charts have additional capabilities. Below, you will find a description of these special functions that can help enhance your work and the data each chart contains.  Click here to see a grid of all options available for each Analytics Chart.

Creating a Media Outlet List from the Top Outlets Chart:

The Top Outlets chart has a unique feature in that it will allow you to create a Media Outlet list with any of the Top Outlets contained in the chart with the click of a button.  To create a Media Outlet List from this chart, use the following steps:

1. Check any media outlets that you want to include in the listConvert Top outlets to Outlet List1
2. Click the Add to List button
3. To add the media outlets to an existing list, click the checkbox that appears before the list name
4. To add the media outlets to a new list, enter the name of the new list in the search box.

Changing the Mentions by Location Map

While a single coverage map will appear on your default analytics dashboard, you can use a button in the upper right-hand corner to toggle among a view of coverage from the United States, Europe, and Canada or the entire Globe.

1. Click the Globe icon in the upper right-hand corner of the chart.Mentions by Location Canada
2. Select the map you want to display on your dashboard. This change will persist until you leave the Analytics Dashboard.  If you wish to change which Map you see in your dashboard permanently, continue following this document.

If you wish to permanently change the Map that you see on your Analytics Dashboard,

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Mentions by Location Chart.map settings
2. In the Data column, be sure you have the Mentions by Location chart selected.
3. When the Edit Chart options appear, click on Basic Options.
4. Select the Map you want to see in your Analytics Dashboard.
5. Click Save.

Viewing Mentions by Location as a Table:

The Mentions by Location Chart can be viewed as a table rather than as a map. To view this chart as a table,

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Mentions by Location Chart.Mentions-by-Location-table-2
2. Be sure you have selected the Mentions by Location chart in the Data column.
3. When the Edit Chart options appear, click the upside-down triangle in the Type field.
4. Select Table.
5. If you want to change the region described by the table, click the Basic Options area. Select the region you want the table to describe.
6. Click Save.

The Notes Chart:

The Notes chart will allow you to add text and images to describe the charts in your Custom Dashboard. This is a great way to let viewers know what coverage the dashboard describes and changes in PR strategies that have contributed to the coverage. 

1. Click the Edit Note link.Notes Chart
2. Use the Editor to type in the desired text and add images.
3. Click Save

Interacting with Table Charts:

Many of the table charts, such as Top Authors, Top Articles, and Top Outlets, have links that you can click on further to explore the clips, outlets, or authors.

Many of the table charts also have columns that can be used to sort the data in different ways.

Sorting Top Articles Chart in Various Ways:

The Top Articles chart can be altered to show top articles based on the number of articles or articles with the highest reach.  This chart can also be updated for clients with Advanced Analytics to show top articles by Prominence or Impact. To change this setting, click on the three ellipsis button in the upper right.

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Top Articles Chart.Top Articles by Criteria
2. Click on the Basic Options section.
3. Click the upside-down triangle by Reach.
4. Select how you would like to sort this chart.
5. Click Save.

Visualising Coverage by DMA in Unique Ways:

The DMA chart shows the distribution of clips for different designated market areas (DMA). This chart's default option is to show clips' distributions for designated market areas (DMA) over time as a line graph (1).  However, this chart also has the option to show clip distribution per DMA as a bubble map, table, stacked area, stacked bar or doughnut chart. When viewing the DMA chart as a bubble chart, hover over a bubble to see how many clips originated for a particular DMA (2). When viewing the DMA chart as a table, DMAs from which coverage originated will be listed from greatest to least number of clips (3). Within the table, click on the number of clips from a DMA to see a list of applicable coverage.

Using Various Settings to Generate Company Mindshare Charts:

By default, the Company Mindshare and Share of Voice charts will show the volume of clips that have mentioned each of your Company Analytics Categories for the body of coverage you are examining. However, you can change the Appearance and Advanced Options to have this chart reflect data in other ways.  Because this chart has many valuable settings, consider adding multiple Company Mindshare charts with different settings to your Analytics Dashboard.

You can change the criteria used to generate this chart to show Total Reach (Audience Reach) for clips that mention your Company Analytics Categories or Total UVPM (Unique Visitors Per Month) for clips that mention your Company Analytics Categories.

You also can filter this chart by various tone settings so that it only describes coverage categorised as positive, negative, or neutral Clip Tone or Company Tone.

Finally, you pivot the chart by either Clip Tone or Company Tone.

To change the criteria used to generate your Mindshare or Share of Voice chart,

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the chart.Mindshare sort by reach vs volume
2. Click Advanced Options
3. Select the upside-down triangle located in the Criteria field.
4. Select the criteria you want to use to generate the chart.
5. Click Save

To filter the coverage described in the Mindshare or Share of Voice chart so that it only shows coverage toned in a specific way,

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the chart.Company Mindshare by tone
2. Ensure the Company Mindshare Chart is selected.Sort Mindshare by Rach vs volume
3. Click Advanced Options
4. Select the upside-down triangle located in the Tone field.
5. Select the tone of coverage you would like to include in the chart. Clip tone refers to the overall top of the clip. Company tone refers to how your defined company analytics categories have been specifically mentioned in the article. Click here to learn more about Analytics Profile Categories
6. Click Save

To pivot the chart by tone,

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the chart.
  1. Pivot Company Mindshare
2. Ensure the Company Mindshare Chart is selected.
3. Click Advanced Options
4. Select the upside-down triangle located in the Pivot By field.
5. Select either Clip or Company Tone. Clip tone refers to the overall top of the clip. Company tone refers to how your defined company analytics categories have been specifically mentioned in the article. Click here to learn more about Analytics Profile Categories
6. Click Save

Using Total vs Percent Total Calculations in Horizontal Bar Charts:

Many charts, such as the Coverage by Media Type and Company Mindshare Charts, can be displayed as a horizontal bar charts.  When choosing to use the horizontal bar display, you can use either the Total (Number of Clips) or Percent of Total (Number of Clips) calculations.

To display a chart as a horizontal bar using one of the calculations,

1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of a chart to display its settings.Change Calculation
2. Click the upside-down triangle in the Type field and select Horizontal Bar.
3. Scroll down to the Advanced Options area of the chart settings. Click the upside-down triangle in the Calculation field.  Select the Total (Number of Clips) or Percent of Total (Number of Clips) calculations.

Below are examples of Share of Voice and Media Type charts using each calculation.

Using Different Criteria to Generate the Word Cloud Chart:

By default, the Word Cloud chart shows the most popular words in the coverage you selected.  You can alter this to show the most popular words used in articles with the highest reach (print circulation) or UVPM (online). Within this chart, the most prominently used terms appear in brighter green, larger font. The less frequently occurring terms appear in darker green, smaller font.

1. Click the Gear in the upper right-hand corner.Updated Word Cloud
2. When Edit options appear, click the Advanced Options section.
3. Click the upside-down triangle in the Criteria field.
4. Select the criteria you would like to use to generate the Word Cloud.
