The default option of this chart is to show distributions of clips for designated market areas (DMA) over time as a line graph (1).  However, this chart also has the option to show clip distribution per DMA as a bubble map, table, stacked area, stacked bar or donut chart. When viewing the DMA chart as a bubble chart, hover over a bubble to see how many clips originated for a particular DMA (2). When viewing the DMA chart as a table, DMAs from which coverage originated will be listed from greatest to least number of clips (3). Using Various Settings to Generate Company Mindshare Charts

By default, the Company Mindshare and Share of Voice charts will show the volume of clips that have mentioned each of your Company Analytics Categories for the body of coverage that you are examining. However, you can change the Appearance and Advanced Options to have this chart reflect data in other ways.  Because there are many valuable settings for this chart, you may want to consider adding multiple Company Mindshare charts with different settings to your Analytics Dashboard.

You have the option to change the criteria used to generate this chart so that it shows Total Reach (Audience Reach) for clips that mention your Company Analytics Categories or Total UVPM (Unique Visitors Per Month) for clips that mention your Company Analytics Categories.

You also have the option to filter this chart by various tone settings so that it only describes coverage categorized as positive, negative, or neutral Clip Tone or Company Tone.

Finally, you pivot the chart by either Clip Tone or Company Tone.

Company Analytics Categories are created during your initial account set up but can be changed by you or Cision over time. Click here to learn more about Analytics Profile Categories and tone associated with them.

  2. Click the upside-down triangle in the Type field and select Horizontal Bar.
  3. Scroll down to the Advanced Options area of the chart settings. Click the upside-down triangle in the Calculation field.  Select either the Total (Number of Clips) or Percent of Total (Number of Clips) calculations.

Company Sentiment Score

The company sentiment score chart enables you to visualize the net sentiment of your organization’s news coverage versus your competitors by sentiment score which is calculated by subtracting the number of negative clips from the number of positive clips. The percentage calculation available in the settings for this chart allows you to normalize the score metric which is beneficial when making comparisons among companies getting different volumes of coverage.  The criteria of this chart can be changed so that the calculation is made with Reach or UVPM instead of based on total mentions.

To change the Calculation and/or Criteria of the Company Chart,

  1. Click the Gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the chart.
  2. Click upside down triangle in the Type field.
  3. Select Horizontal Bar as the Type.

  5. Select Percentage as the Calculation.
  6. Click the upside-down triangle in the Criteria field to use Reach or UVPM in the calculation rather than Total Mentions.
