What are Data Groups?

Data groups are partitions in your system.  The use of data groups allows you to separate items such as lists, distributions and news into separate areas.  Each user in the Cision Communications Cloud is assigned to specific data groups based on what the System Administrator of their organization would like them to have access too.  Here are some examples of how data groups can be used:

  • Agency: Agencies can use data groups to separate their clients. That way the lists, emails and news available are client specific.
  • Different Departments: Organizations often have different departments using Cision for different purposes.  They can use data groups to separate those departments so they have their own work space.

Where are Data Groups Located?

If you have data groups, you will see an additional drop down on the top right corner of your system. In the example on the left, you can see it says Travel.  Travel is the name of the data group that I am currently in. To see any other data groups that your user name is assigned to, click the drop down arrow.

Can I add more?

Yes, additional data groups can be added.  Every system comes with the ability to add up to 5 additional data groups included in their contract. If you would like to have additional data groups added or change existing data groups please contact your Account Manager as this cannot be done on the client end.
